Farfield Group Press Releases
01 Jul 2004 - Society's Summer Science Exhibition a Success
The exhibit attracted people from a wide variety of sectors: the Government and the diplomatic service, academia and industry, through to the exhibitions' major target audience 16-19 year old school children and members of the public. At one point, we were even visited by the Metropolitan police!
We were particularly impressed by the level of knowledge and interest from the visiting 6th form students, our exhibit competition with the prize of a Farfield 'illuminating pen' proved just too easy for them!
The Summer Science Exhibition takes place in London, at the Royal Society's Building in Carlton House Terrace, this year coinciding with the Grand Prix Race through London which set up right outside! Each year the Royal Society competitively selects 25 teams of scientists from universities and companies throughout the UK to present leading-edge technology. Farfield was the only SME to be selected. Our Exhibit - 'The Molecular Microscope' (No.14) – was an interactive display demonstrating the power of the AnaLight® Bio200 to study structural change in molecules in real-time and it's application to disease research, in particular Alzheimer's.
A great deal of effort, from many parties, contributed to making this event a success. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors: University of Lancaster, BBSRC, Royal Society of Chemistry, Manchester Airport, HSBC, UNICS, RPG, University of Durham, Marqetry and OutSource Marketing and of course the Royal Society itself for inviting us.
